Studies are suggesting that heavy backpacks could cause back problems for children later in life....applies to adults too!
http://kidshealth.org/parent/positive/learning/backpack.html This is the effect on your spine of smartphone users hunching over their phones for an average of of 2-4 hours each day.
The human head weighs about 5kg, however, as the neck bends forward the weight and pressure on the cervical spine increases. At an angle of 15 degrees, it's the equivalent of 12kg, 30 degrees it's 18kg, 22kg at 40 degrees, and at 60 degrees, a huge 27kg. An average user is putting the the same pressure on their spine, as carrying an eight year old child for 700-1400 hours per year! Interesting article about the possible physical effects of mental stress... http://citifmonline.com/2015/09/07/ten-astonishing-effects-of-stress-on-the-body
Stress, tension and anxiety make you more likely to develop back pain' according to NHS
http://www.nhs.uk/…/P…/how-to-avoid-long-term-back-pain.aspx Suffer from migraines and think you've tried everything? Body Stress Release (BSR) is a precise, gentle way to reduce stress locked in the body and is very effective in reducing migraines. Although the cause of migraines is unknown, they are often associated with emotional stress. BSR is a technique which views the body as a whole, and by releasing stress which has become locked-in over a period of time, the results can be life changing. Steph, a recent client, is 45 and works in the NHS. She has been suffering from 3 migraines a week for over 20 years, and has tried a variety of different techniques, yet none had really alleviated the pain in the long term. The first BSR session stopped the migraines for a week. After the 3rd session, Steph said that BSR had changed her life! She still has BSR every 4 – 6 weeks, but lives migraine free in between. BSR is a fantastic technique, which works – but it is your body, which is designed to heal itself, which does the hard work, all BSR does is enable your body to heal itself. Want to give it a go? I'm happy to answer questions, so please get in touch if you would like more info! September offer to try Body Stress Release (BSR), a unique technique that is now available in Brighton & Hove. BSR works by releasing tension or 'body stress' that becomes stored on the muscles. This stored tension, which may have built up over a life time, or is the result of an accident or stressful event, is contributes to the pain you experience on a daily basis. Our bodies are designed to deal with stress in a positive way, but to much stress on the muscles can lead to pain, stiffness, postural distortion, numbness and cramp, and times of emotional stress can trigger or make existing back pain worse. People get used to living with pain, thinking there is nothing they can do about it - BSR does not force or crunch bones back into place, instead, by gently releasing stress from the muscles, we provide the stimulus for the body to begin the natural self healing process. Body Stress Release has been extremely effective for back pain, sciatica, slipped disc, headaches & migraines, neck problems, whiplash, trapped nerves, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel, bad posture, fibromyalgia, fatigue, and IBS. BSR is a fantastic technique, which works – but it is your body, which is designed to heal itself, which does the hard work, BSR optimises your bodies ability to heal itself. It is important to book three initial appointments for you over a period of two weeks. It is important that you attend all three appointments as Body Stress Release works as a process and some clients can experience increased sensitivity, especially after the first release. Want to give it a go? Book before end of September for a half price introductory offer of £20 (normal rate is £40), or book three sessions for £90. I'm happy to answer questions, so please get in touch if you would like more info! |
